On 26 August 2009, the department launched its transport network: car.ain.fr. Its 36 services provided by 5 different bus companies serve more than half of the Ain district’s towns, the department’s stations as well as many other towns in neighbouring departments (Mâcon, Lyon, Villefranche-sur-Saône, Morestel...).
- To offer attractive pricing: each ticket costs 2€, irrespective of the distance travelled on the service
- To develop a robust offer at peak times to encourage home-work commuting
- To encourage car + train intermodality
