TER Auvergne Rhône-Alpes

The Auvergne Rhône-Alpes T.E.R (Regional Transport Express) network, comprises:

  • 2,150 km of railway track in use
  • 255 stations
  • 505 road stop-off points

To assure an optimal service these travelers, the Region signed in March, 2007 an agreement with the S.N.C.F. for the exploitation and the financing of the regional rail transportation. The objective of this agreement for 2007-2015: strengthen the level of the quality of service provided to the travelers, the welcome in station until the comfort and in the safety in trains.

In addition, there are 8 train and bus services, allowing for travelling within Savoie or routes linking up to the main Auvergne Rhône-Alpes regions, including:

  • Genève/Annecy – Grenoble – Valence
  • Annecy- Aix les Bains – Lyon
  • Annecy – Chambéry
  • Chambéry – Culoz – Genève
  • Bourg St Maurice – Chambéry – Lyon
  • Modane – Chambéry – Lyon
  • Chambéry – Lyon
  • Chambéry – Grenoble


These lines are completed by a device of sideboard by coaches set up firstly for the students but accessible to all the travelers. These lines allow a direct and fast access to university centers, as a supplement to the railroad offer TER.

The routes proposed a Fridays evening and Sunday evening are the following ones:

  • Arve - Chambéry
  • Chablais - Annecy Chambéry
  • Bourg-en-Bresse - Chambéry
  • Tarentaise - Grenoble
